We’re counting down the days until Steve, my partner, our kids’ Dad, and Captain of both our fishing boat and family business, heads west to Alaska. He’ll be gone for about 40 days, fishing in Bristol Bay, Alaska. It’s a big part of our lives, but no matter how many seasons we go through, the sendoff still carries weight.
Before that chapter opens, we lean into the stillness of time together. For us, that means spending time in nature where we’re reminded of what truly matters. It’s not always grand. Sometimes it’s fishing or running with the dogs through the woods, sometimes it’s just a quiet walk and a meal cooked over open flame. But each moment outdoors acts as a way we tether ourselves to one another and to the Earth that raised us.
Steve and I both grew up in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the woods and water. This place shaped us and taught us to find home, not just in four walls, but in the wind, the soil, and the sound of the river. These days, our time in Alaska builds on that foundation. Out there, the wild keeps teaching us how to listen to our intuition and how to live with intention.

This time of year brings a mix of joy and a bit of heaviness. There’s so much joy in hearing our kids laughing in the forest, gathered around the fire. And there’s heaviness in knowing we’ll be apart for a while with Steve at sea. The rest of us do a good job of holding it down here at home and at Wild for Salmon and while it isn’t easy, it’s a trade we’ve wholeheartedly chosen for 21 years. Our choice, our lifestyle is rooted in tradition, hard work, and feeding our community with care.
So as he prepares to go, I ask this…Please hold Steve in your hearts. Send him strength, calm waters, and steady hands. He goes not only as our provider, but as a steward of something ancient and essential.
We are immensely grateful for your support, for your shared love of this wild food, and for being part of the circle that makes this life possible.
With gratitude, Jenn

Hi Jenn!
A tremendous thank you to your family for embracing this passion of fishing and providing the best seafood in the area to our community! We are very appreciative of the opportunity to have salmon filets in our freezer and enjoy a healthy lifestyle of eating!
I remember photos of your daughter at a young in the very early days of your business! Now look how she’s grown! A blessing! Yes, we will pray for Steve and his crew — safety, cooperative weather and calm seas! And a plentiful catch!
God bless you all and thank you for your hard work and commitment!

I love this Beautiful send-off to Steve, and the description of your family, Jenn. I appreciate your family’s dedication to fishing, and recommend your products to many because of it. Thank you for what you do, and please never sell-out to those big conglomerates!!
Stay safe and may your Higher Power watch over you :)
