This Bristol Bay Bulletin is all about gratitude. Steve & I started Wild for Salmon to provide natural, sustainably harvested salmon products of superior quality, priced for the common good. You may have heard us say before, “We offer wild, Alaskan sockeye salmon because we believe the health benefits received from wild salmon are an essential part of our mind and body health.”
It's still true. For more on the story behind Wild for Salmon see “Our Wild Story”
But, we could not do this alone. As families and friends gather in the coming weeks, we would like to share our gratitude for the people working hard to make wild Alaska salmon available to your families, as well as the places that protect it. The healthy, natural, wild proteins available in our online store are what fuel our family and our passion to share them with you.
Our Catch
Bristol Bay, Alaska is home to the world last wild sockeye salmon run. Like the salmon, we return to its bays and rivers each summer to hop aboard the F/V Ava Jane where we hustle to sustainably harvest the wild sockeye salmon in order to bring them to your homes and dinner tables. This place is under threat, and we encourage our customers to read up on what they can do to help us protect it, its peoples, and its salmon. Vote with your fork and buy online today. Some more great resources are United Tribes of Bristol Bay and savebristolbay.org.
Our Crew
Holy smokes! We have come a long way from selling a couple fillets of our wild Alaska salmon out of a cooler at our local Farmer’s Markets. We still do that--it’s true. But we don’t do it alone! We have a fantastic team of folks passionate about good and healthy food options that keep this business churning. Be sure to sign up for our weekly newsletter in order to hear recipes from Chef Josh, entertaining tips from Nancy, fishing stories from Elma, Steve and Matt or how to find Beth and Kourtney at a Farmers’ Market near you!
Our Family
We’re a family-owned business. Born and raised just down the road in central PA, this has really been a community effort and thank goodness! We’d likely still be just selling a couple pounds of our summer catch without that support. We hope that you have the opportunity to surround yourself in a similar way this upcoming holiday season. Why not show them your gratitude by feeding them well?
You!
Last but not least, your support and enthusiasm goes above and beyond! When a freezer stalls or a delivery truck gets a flat tire, it’s easy to question why and how the heck we are making a living this way, but then we get out on the water or someone leaves a review like Julie Williams did on Facebook:
“I can't say enough about the wonderful quality, taste and love for Wild for Salmon products. My sister who lives in Danville had salmon burgers from here for us and the rest is history. I joined a buyers club for the Wilkes Barre/scranton area and get the most tasteful, orange, fresh salmon filets delivered to our area and am now officially spoiled by how good they taste. I can't eat any other Salmon! I have spread the word to co-workers, friends and family who are all "hooked" on the filets. Join the club and enjoy!”
And we’re reminded of what fuels us and Wild for Salmon.
